Theological College continued its annual Iron Seminarian Tournament tradition this year on February 21st with over 30 seminarian entries. The single-elimination competitions, featuring a multi-tiered bracket scoring system in pool, ping-pong, and darts, began at 7 pm with a brief history of the event by Vice-Rector Father Tony Pogorelc, S.S. Father Mel Blanchette, S.S., who had helped to organize the first tournament for the 2005-2006 academic year, offered the opening prayer. Defending champion Leo Song (2-PT , Rockville Centre) retained his crown by winning both the ping-pong and pool championships. Song was dominant, sweeping both final matches by such a wide margin that second-place was not awarded! Will Wuenschel (3T, Pittsburgh) won the darts tournament.
Community Life Committee members put in a lot of work to plan and stage the tournament. CLC also paid for an overhaul in equipment, including a new dartboard. John Large (3-T, Trenton) and Sunder Michael’s Sodexho staff provided a Texas roadhouse-themed menu enjoyed by athletes, spectators, and all those attending TC’s Discernment Weekend.
