USCCB Bishops Breakfast 2017

Theological College’s annual hospitality welcoming all bishops during the General Assembly of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Baltimore was a great success. This breakfast invitation began almost 25 years ago, in 1973, when Theological College sold the rear part of its property to the National Conference of Catholic Bishops (NCCB — today known as the USCCB) for its new Washington headquarters.

September 25, 2017, heralded the official start of the centennial anniversary for Theological College (the Sulpician Seminary), the day on which, 100 years ago, its pioneer group of seminarian students attended the first day of classes at The Catholic University of America. During this year’s Alumni Days, October 3-4, 60 alumni celebrated this joyful milestone with the entire seminary community.

2017-18 Academic and Formation Year Begins

2017-18 Academic and Formation Year Begins

The Theological College 2017-18 academic and formation year began with the enthusiastic welcome of 30 seminarians from 18 different dioceses for a week of orientation, punctuated by a meet-and-greet for the entire seminarian population at an outdoor cookout, the annual Evening of Recollection with Cardinal Donald Wuerl, and a Mass and celebration with Catholic University President John Garvey and other supporters of the seminary, including the faculty and staff.

Successful SJC Fundraiser

This past semester the Social Justice Committee held a fundraiser for a group of religious sisters in Vietnam. The Community of Charity and Social Services used the money to buy bicycles for children in rural areas to get to school. The children and their families just received their their 26 new bikes!

New Organ Dedication and Recital

On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, faculty, staff, seminarians, patrons, and friends of Theological College celebrated the inauguration and dedication of the new Gerald F. Muller Organ with a recital by world-famous organist, Daniel Roth. Beginning the event with an organ blessing, TC Rector, Rev. Gerald McBrearity, prayed, “Grant, Lord, that its music may lead us to express our prayer and praise in melodies that are pleasing to You.”

Transitional Diaconate Ordinations 2017

On March 11, 2017, Theological College had the privilege of celebrating the transitional diaconate ordinations of two seminarians, Carlos Limongi, of the Archdiocese of New York, and Raymond Kalema, of the Diocese of Spokane, in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Crypt Church. A joy-filled reception for the TC-CUA community and family and friends of the ordinands was hosted at Theological College after the event.
